Psycho-Emotional Re-Patterning in Chinese Medicine:
Extraordinary Meridians for Extraordinary Change Module 1
Date: TBA (If interested, please email Brodie)
This workshop is designed to introduce you, counselors, psychotherapists, social workers, acupuncturists, bodyworkers and anyone interested in working with the bodymind to a sophisticated framework rooted in Chinese Medicine for catalyzing deep emotional, mental, and behavioral change. Often, deep, long-term mental, emotional issues have been dealt with in talk therapy, but still hold sway because the energy remains stuck in the body. That energy can be accessed through specific points along the meridians of acupuncture, and can serve as a tremendously powerful catalyst to transform the energetic holding patterns that underpin deeply defining core issues. Yet, the use of needles is not necessary: accessing these channels through self-massage, visualization, or acupressure can aid in this energetic re-patterning.
The acupuncture meridians which deal with how our innate potential expresses itself and unfolds through time are known collectively as the Extraordinary Meridians. They are indeed “extraordinary:” by accessing their qi, we can tap into the constitutional level of programming that affects the development and unfolding of the Essential Self. The Extraordinary Meridians deal with such issues as:
- Becoming aware of one’s essential nature
- Lack of support early in life, limiting beliefs that “run in the family”
- Issues of trust, bonding, the ability to be nurtured
- Confidence, motivation, risk-taking, individuation
- Shifting the sense of self, breaking free of socially determined roles
- Releasing stored guilt, shame, insecurity, traumas
- Acceptance of the self and the world as they are in the present moment
In this workshop, you will be introduced to:
- The basics of Chinese Medical bodymind energetics, (including yin/yang theory, the 5-element model, and the 8 Extraordinary Vessels)
- The relationship between specific meridians (du, ren, chong, and dai mai) and particular emotional, mental, or personal developmental challenges
- The location of specific acupuncture meridians and points and how to access them
- How to apply Chinese Medical theory to help break negative thought and behavioral patterns ingrained in the bodymind through non-invasive techniques such as acupressure
- Simple qigong (energy exercises) techniques for emotional, psychological and spiritual health
This class serves as a prerequisite for Module 2, which will explore the second tier of Extraordinary Meridians: the yin and yang wei and yin and yang qiao mai, and the application of essential oils for all 8 Extraordinary Meridians.
Approved for 6.5 hours of PDA / CEU credit by the NASW Oregon chapter and the NCCAOM.
